15 Oct Using Microsoft Dynamics GP with Windows 10
Windows 10 is the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system and it has solved many of the user-feedback issues from the release of Windows 8. Using Microsoft Dynamics GP with Windows 10 is possible in GP 2013 R2 or newer versions. That means users on GP 2010 or older are not able to use Windows 10 to run GP.
What to do if you are on GP 2010 or older:
There are basically two options. One is to keep using Windows 7 or whatever version you’re on. Or upgrade both OS and ERP systems.
Upgrading both is probably the best option as Microsoft has ended support for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 and will not be offering important updates such as year-end service packs and tax tables to 2010 users.
If you are a GP user and want to use Dynamics GP with Windows 10, check out this Windows 10 video demo to learn more about the OS functionality.
The Newest GP Version on any Operating System
Upgrading Dynamics GP might be easier and more cost-effective than you think. When you deploy a hosted Dynamics GP cloud solution through a trusted cloud provider, you get lower upfront cost and the convenience of web browser sign-on. Browser access allows you to get into GP from nearly any device or operating system. Just be sure to choose a hosting provider that includes GP updates and upgrades in their monthly subscription price.
Another benefit of moving your aging Dynamics GP system to the cloud is that you will not have to pay any lapsed fees for maintenance.
The Mobile World
The truth is that mobile is gradually taking over. It won’t be long before a non-mobile workstation doesn’t even exist. Windows 10 is optimized to be used on a mobile device and includes a more intuitive interface than previous versions. Likewise the current version of Microsoft Dynamics GP, Dynamics GP 2015, is designed for improved cloud and mobile access.
Microsoft is increasing the pace of its release schedule for all Dynamics ERP products with the next version of GP already expected in April 2016. Checkout this post on the upcoming Dynamics GP 2016 release and new features.
