11 Feb Dynamics AX Lean ERP Video Case Study : Dell Inc.
Like the humble beginnings of so many companies of its kind, Dell Inc. started out as a homegrown dorm room operation at University of Texas at Austin. However today Dell employs over 100,000 people and is one of the most popular technology brands around. See how Dell used Dynamics AX lean ERP to redefine its manufacturing operations in the video below.
“Since deploying Microsoft Dynamics AX, we have reduced manufacturing IT costs by $96 million,” said Matt Griffiths, Executive Director of IT Manufacturing at Dell. “The Microsoft Dynamics solution contributes approximately $50 million of those savings.”
Simplification was top of their list. Dell reengineered its manufacturing processes based on lean principles, including just-in-time delivery of components from hundreds of suppliers. The lean lighter weight model made them more efficient and the program was adopted very quickly for high ROI.
“At the first factory where we deployed Microsoft Dynamics AX in India, they refer to it as the ‘Magic Energy System,’ which is a play on MES,” Griffiths said. “It was really fulfilling to have the system accepted so rapidly by the factory floor operators.”
